Last year, global sales skyrocketed to 1.43 million units. After achieving a remarkable 1.219 million units in the first eight months of this year, the confident Chery Automobile once again quoted Chairman Yin Tongyue's famous saying from years ago: "If we can't succeed, we'll jump into the Yangtze River," vowing to become a top global SUV brand.
On September 25, in front of the grand and majestic hall of the Daming Palace in Xi'an, the global launch event for the Tiggo 9 hybrid and electric models took place, marking Chery’s crucial new step in the SUV sector.
Li Xueyong, Deputy General Manager of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., stated at the launch, “The Tiggo 9 will feature 37 advanced technology configurations. By democratizing technology, we aim for all users to enjoy an ultra-comfortable, upgraded experience. With top-notch learning capabilities, the Tiggo has evolved from its initial emergence to surpassing expectations, becoming the new king of the 200,000 yuan category.”

It is reported that the 2025 Tiggo 9 is positioned as China's ultra-comfort flagship SUV, integrating aesthetic flagship, power flagship, comfort flagship, and safety flagship strengths. It will be available in both gasoline and C-DM hybrid versions, with starting prices of 152,900 yuan and 165,900 yuan, respectively.
Among them, the 2025 Tiggo 9 gasoline version is powered by a Kunpeng 2.0T engine coupled with an 8AT/7DCT transmission, delivering a maximum torque of 400N·m. The intelligent four-wheel drive system offers seven driving modes, alongside a super-comfortable magnetic suspension chassis that significantly reduces vehicle vibrations and noise.
The Tiggo 9 C-DM features Kunpeng's super-efficient C-DM hybrid technology, equipped with a dedicated 1.5T hybrid engine, achieving a maximum thermal efficiency of 44.5%. Real-world measurements show that the fuel consumption in depleted battery conditions is as low as 4L, with a pure electric range of 106 kilometers under CLTC conditions, and a total range exceeding 2000 kilometers. Additionally, the new vehicle supports external power output, functioning as a mobile power station with a maximum output of 6.6kW.
Building upon an ultra-spacious and serene interior, the new model is equipped with a 540° surround cooling system, a SONY 14-speaker surround sound system, C-PURE Chery's clean cabin technology, a high-end intelligent fragrance system, a zero-gravity passenger seat, driver massage functions, and upscale second-row seating.
With the support of an 8155 high-performance chip, a 24.6-inch ultra-smart true silk curved screen, and a 50-inch AR-HUD, the new vehicle provides an immersive audiovisual experience and intelligent AI interaction capabilities tailored to user needs.
In terms of safety, the new model employs a rock-solid body design, with high-strength steel comprising 85% of the structure, complemented by a B-pillar with a tensile strength of up to 1500MPA, ensuring robust reliability. The new vehicle also features 360° wrap-around protection with 10 airbags, including a unique front-center airbag, capable of maintaining pressure for an extended six seconds, offering comprehensive protection.
The 2025 Tiggo 9 also comes equipped with an L2.5-level intelligent driving assistance system consisting of 21 intelligent driving functions. Coupled with IPB intelligent brake control technology, it achieves a rapid braking response of just 0.15 seconds, reducing stopping distance by one meter, providing users with higher safety standards.
During the launch event, Li Xueyong emphasized Chery's ambition to become a top-tier global SUV brand multiple times. Four members of the Chinese national women's volleyball team were present at the event and received vehicles from Chery, symbolizing a shared commitment between champions and adding special significance to the launch.
In the first eight months of this year, Chery's domestic SUV sales reached 556,000 units, an impressive 84.4% year-on-year increase. “Everyone says the auto market is tough this year, but Chery's 84.4% growth shows that with effort, the market can still be promising,” Li Xueyong remarked.
