In the last week of September, SAIC General Motors can be regarded as the "hardworking champion" of the automotive industry.
During this week, three flagship models from SAIC General Motors were launched in quick succession, marking the beginning of a powerful counter-offensive and ensuring no opportunity was missed during the lucrative “Golden Week” sales period.
On September 23rd, the 2-millionth vehicle from the Buick GL8 family—the GL8 Luxgen PHEV—rolled off the assembly line at the SAIC General Motors luxury car factory in Jinqiao; on September 24th, the all-new Buick Envision Plus was launched with a limited-time offer, reducing its starting price from 229,900 yuan to 169,900 yuan, a decrease of 60,000 yuan.
On September 28th, SAIC General Motors struck again with a powerful deal. Cadillac’s all-terrain SUV, the all-new XT5, was introduced with a "limited-time only" price range of 265,900 to 335,900 yuan. This represented a significant drop of about 130,000 yuan compared to the previous official guidance price of 399,900 to 459,900 yuan.
Compared to the earlier pre-sale price, the final price for the most affordable luxury trim saw a reduction of 14,000 yuan, while the other two models dropped by 4,000 yuan, with the official promise that the price difference from the pre-sale would be refunded to customers.
Xue Haitao, Deputy General Manager of SAIC General Motors, described the all-new XT5 as “fully loaded with luxury” and “packed with benefits,” possessing an imposing presence that surpasses its competitors.
Reportedly, the new XT5 is upgraded to a completely new wide architecture with substantial upgrades in body dimensions; it features the segment's only linear LED matrix headlights using the latest SlimLine technology, pushing the physical limits of optical lenses to just 15mm. Five ultra-bright LED bulbs are packed into the narrow space to achieve 36 zone lighting, illuminating up to 360 meters for a remarkable vertical and horizontal lighting effect; it boasts the segment's largest 21-inch wheels and widest 265mm tires, complemented by the same red Brembo high-performance six-piston custom calipers found in the Cadillac Escalade, maximizing both luxury and performance.
The interior of the new vehicle combines luxurious materials with cutting-edge technology seamlessly. It features the segment's only 33-inch panoramic ultra-retina display, which occupies 86.8% of the dashboard area, with a 9K ultra-high screen resolution capable of displaying one billion colors. As the only automotive brand partnered with AKG for sound systems globally, Cadillac has integrated top-tier recording studio quality into the new XT5’s mobile cabin. The new vehicle features high-end Imass custom seats, wrapped in top-quality Fine Nappa semi-aniline leather; the front seats offer three levels of heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while the rear seats provide rare heating and one-button electric reclining features. Together with the segment's only completely flat rear floor design, it delivers a spacious and comfortable riding experience.
Additionally, the all-new XT5 comes standard with a Hummingbird chassis, which has undergone a complete upgrade, with a 42mm wider track and a 22mm higher ride height. The suspension geometry has been optimized to significantly enhance handling and driving stability. Through collaboration among the global Cadillac team, the vehicle was refined over three rounds with more than 20 different road types and over 120 diverse driving conditions and open roads, leading to comprehensive performance enhancements.
In terms of safety, the all-new XT5 truly lives up to its title of "multi-terrain road tank."
