With over ten automakers rolling out their vehicles, Chinese new energy vehicles have reached the significant milestone of an annual output of 10 million units, making China the first country in the world to achieve this level of annual production for new energy vehicles.
Statistics show that 2013 was the first year in which China's new energy vehicle production and sales were included in the statistical system, with an output of only 18,000 units that year. By 2018, the annual output had reached the million-unit milestone.
From producing the first new energy vehicle to the 10 millionth, China took 27 years. It took only 17 months to go from the 10 millionth unit to surpassing 20 million. Now, Chinese new energy vehicle production is gaining speed once again, achieving an annual output and sales volume of over 10 million for the first time in less than 11 months. Experts predict that this figure may exceed 12 million by the end of the year.
Over the past decade, China has maintained the world's highest production and sales volume of new energy vehicles for nine consecutive years, firmly establishing itself as the leader in the global new energy vehicle market.
