Geely launches two new "super pure electric hybrid" products this year
- 27 August, 2024
This year, Geely Auto will globally launch two new products equipped with a new generation of "super-hybrid" technology, one sedan and one SUV.
It is reported that Geely's new generation of "super alcohol hybrid" has achieved a flexible ratio of methanol and gasoline in the same fuel tank. The world's first methanol engine it uses has achieved a breakthrough in starting methanol fuel at a low temperature of minus 40°C, and the engine thermal efficiency has also reached the world's highest 48.15%.
It is reported that Geely has been deeply engaged in the methanol field for 20 years, successfully solving the four major problems of corrosion, swelling, durability and cold start, developing more than 20 methanol vehicles, putting nearly 40,000 units into operation, with a cumulative mileage of over 20 billion kilometers, and exploring a long-term sustainable development path for methanol vehicles.
In February 2023, Geely invested in the world's first green low-carbon methanol plant with an annual output of 110,000 tons to be put into operation in Anyang, Henan. In October 2024, Geely's first phase of a 100,000-ton demonstration project with an annual output of 500,000 tons of green methanol in Alxa officially started to ensure the supply of automotive energy.
At present, 350 methanol-hydrogen hybrid vehicles have been selected as the official designated vehicles for the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin in 2025. This is the first time that methanol vehicles have been used on a large scale to serve a large-scale comprehensive international sports event.
Geely's methanol vehicles have gone through four generations. The super-methanol electric hybrid model to be launched this year is its fifth-generation product. It will meet the needs of a wider range of B-end and C-end users at the same time, and is expected to usher in exponential growth in sales.
