On the evening of August 6, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued the latest recall announcement.
Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have filed recall plans with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Management of Recall of Defective Automobile Products.
Starting today, some imported Model S, Model X and domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles with production dates between October 15, 2020 and July 17, 2024 will be recalled, totaling 1,683,627 vehicles.

It is reported that the reason for the recall is that after the front trunk lid of some vehicles is unlocked, the front trunk latch assembly system may not be able to detect that the front trunk lid is in an unlocked state, and the vehicle cannot issue a "front trunk is not locked" prompt. In extreme cases, the front trunk lid may be opened while the vehicle is driving, affecting the driver's field of vision, increasing the risk of vehicle collision, and posing a safety hazard.
Tesla's solution to the above defects is OTA upgrade. After the upgrade, the vehicle can identify the faulty state of the front trunk latch and issue a text and buzzer prompt of "front trunk is not locked". At the same time, vehicles with faulty front trunk latches will be repaired free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.
In addition, for vehicles that cannot be upgraded through OTA technology, the relevant users will be contacted through the Tesla Service Center to implement a recall.
This is Tesla's largest recall in China, involving almost all of the company's vehicles in China. Tesla's last large-scale recall occurred in December last year, when Tesla announced a recall of 1,610,105 vehicles in China.
Data shows that as of the end of June, the cumulative deliveries of Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y produced in China were 1,780,425 units.
