Recently, at the Cadillac Vday Performance Awards after a lapse of 3 years, Cadillac released the new CT5 at the Zhejiang International Circuit.
The new car is available in two models: City Sports Edition and Track Performance Edition, as well as a Peak Track Optional Package, with a limited-time fixed price starting at 215,900 yuan. Compared with the old CT5, the new CT5 not only has a high-end configuration at the entry level, but also has reduced the starting price of the model by more than 70,000 yuan (previously 289,700 yuan).
In terms of appearance, the new CT5 has not changed much, but two new paint colors, Wind Chaser Blue and Typhoon Green, are added to the BLACKWING high-performance version. The new car is equipped with a black label performance kit, with a black and white Cadillac logo, smoked rearview mirrors and a black model tail logo.
Configuration is an aspect of the new CT5 where the most changes have occurred. The entry-level City Sports Edition, priced at RMB 215,900, has an overall configuration that is consistent with the previous mid-range models, with the addition of 360-degree panoramic images, higher-level L2 driving assistance and smart parking, keeping up with the intelligent needs of 2025.
The track performance version with a price of 245,900 yuan is comparable to the previous high-end models priced over 300,000 yuan. It is equipped with the "track three-piece set" mLSD mechanical limited-slip differential, Brembo four-piston braking system, and MRC 4.0 electromagnetic shock absorbers, as well as additional safety features such as the passenger knee airbag.
As for the track performance version + peak track option package with a price of 265,900 yuan, it further adds 9-inch wheels and 245/40 R19 Michelin PS4S tires, which is obviously targeted at the top-of-the-line platinum model that was previously priced at 341,700 yuan.
In terms of power, the new CT5 still uses the 2.0T turbocharged engine codenamed LSY, paired with a 10-speed manual transmission. It has a maximum power of 237 horsepower, a maximum torque of 350 Nm, a rear-wheel drive layout, 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.3 seconds, a maximum speed of 240km/h, and a strong and smooth power output.
The powerful driving and control combination allowed the new CT5 to achieve a lap time of 1 minute 49.681 seconds in the Zhejiang Circuit, becoming the "fastest four-door mass-produced gasoline car under 350,000" on the Zhejiang Circuit lap time list.
In the luxury mid-size sedan market, although CT5 has many strong competitors, after the increase in configuration and price reduction, the competitiveness of the new CT5 has been significantly improved. It can be said that it has performed well in terms of price, configuration, power driving control, etc.
At the press conference, Cadillac gave a slogan that may be the most suitable for the new CT5: "Blood Never Cold". For consumers who still love the mechanical characteristics and driving pleasure of fuel vehicles, the new CT5 may become a car that cannot be ignored on their car shopping list.
