U.S. President Trump said a 25% tariff will be imposed on all imported heavy trucks, adding fresh trade pressure on the commercial-vehicle sector.
In a September 25 post on his social media platform, he said the duty would take effect starting October 1. The measure targets the full import stream of heavy trucks rather than a narrower product slice.
For exporters and U.S. buyers alike, the announcement raises the cost of bringing foreign heavy trucks into the market and sharpens an already tense trade backdrop for commercial vehicles.
