
SAIC Group announced on July 18 that SAIC Group President Jia Jianxu will no longer serve as general manager of SAIC Volkswagen, and Tao Hailong, former general manager of HUAYU Automotive Systems Co., Ltd., will take over as general manager of SAIC Volkswagen.

In February 2023, Jia Jianxu took office as the general manager of SAIC Volkswagen. With an international vision and keen innovative perspective, he further promoted the win-win cooperation between Chinese and foreign shareholders and accelerated the transformation of SAIC Volkswagen.
In 2024, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC Group reached a cooperation agreement with Germany's Audi and Volkswagen to jointly develop a number of new intelligent electric vehicles. SAIC Volkswagen successfully opened a new stage of joint venture cooperation from "technology introduction" to "technology co-creation" between China and Germany.
In the first half of this year, SAIC Volkswagen maintained a good growth momentum, with vehicle sales reaching 512,000 units; sales of new energy vehicles reached nearly 60,000 units, a significant increase of 80.4% year-on-year, taking the lead in the new energy track of joint venture automakers; SAIC Audi sold nearly 20,000 units, doubling year-on-year.
On July 10, 2024, SAIC Group announced that Jia Jianxu would serve as the company's president.
It is reported that Tao Hailong, the new general manager of SAIC Volkswagen, was born in 1968 and has more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He has worked in the quality assurance department and manufacturing department of SAIC Volkswagen for a long time, and has developed a rigorous work style and outstanding professional ability. He then served as the executive director and deputy general manager of the quality assurance department of the Passenger Vehicle Branch of SAIC Group, and successfully established a global international quality standard system for its own brands. After that, he served as the general manager of Shanghai Automotive Transmission Co., Ltd. and the general manager of Huayu Automotive, a leading Chinese auto parts company.
