
On February 10, Dongfeng Motor Group (0489.HK) announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that Dongfeng Motor's cumulative automobile sales in January 2025 were 116,790 units, a year-on-year decrease of about 48.5%. Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd.'s cumulative automobile sales in January were 143,335 units, a year-on-year decrease of about 47.7%.
Specifically, except for Lantu, the sales of Dongfeng Group's brands all declined to varying degrees in January. In January 2025, Lantu's sales were 8,009 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%, making it the only growing segment in the entire Dongfeng Motor Group. In addition, Lantu is also the earliest car brand to access DeepSeek.
In terms of independent brands, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor sold 6,468 vehicles, down 48.3% year-on-year; Dongfeng passenger car sales were 8,669 vehicles, down 60.6% year-on-year. In the new energy sector, Dongfeng Group's new energy passenger car sales were 19,300 vehicles, down 25.3% year-on-year.
In terms of joint venture brands, Dongfeng Nissan (including Dongfeng Infiniti and Venucia) sold 47,400 vehicles, down 37.3% year-on-year; Dongfeng Honda sold 20,000 vehicles, down 69.3% year-on-year; and Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen sold 3,888 vehicles, down 39.4% year-on-year.
Earlier, Dongfeng Motor Group also released its full-year sales for 2024. Data showed that the group ended the year with annual sales of 1.8995 million vehicles. This is the seventh consecutive year of sales decline for the group, and the first time in more than a decade that sales have fallen below 2 million vehicles; it is nearly 1.4 million vehicles lower than the peak in 2017.
2024 is also the first full year that Yang Qing has been at the helm of Dongfeng Motor Group. He has implemented the "operation + coordination" model for the independent passenger car business, restructured the "4+2" business layout, intensively adjusted the leadership team, and continued to fight corruption, etc. At the beginning of 2025, there was news of the reorganization of Dongfeng and Changan. The situation facing Dongfeng, which is accelerating its transformation, is grim.
