
On March 1, 2025, the day of the Chinese traditional folk festival Dragon Raising its Head, at the foot of Mount Tai, "the most majestic of the Five Mountains", FAW-Volkswagen held a press conference with the theme "The Higher You Climb, the Stronger You Become", announcing that fuel vehicles will also be able to "meet at the top" in the intelligent era.

On the same day, the all-new Tanyue L, which aims to be the "leader of smart oil vehicles", was officially launched. The new car has three power configuration models, with an official guide price starting from 207,900 yuan, and can enjoy a full price of 176,900 yuan, as well as a "Tanshan Lanyue" rights and interests package worth 50,000 yuan.
"Why do we insist on iterating fuel-powered models when electric vehicles are booming today?" said Wu Yingkai, Vice General Manager (Business) of FAW-Volkswagen and General Manager of Sales Company. "Because we respect every choice and meet every demand. This is FAW-Volkswagen's solemn promise to more than 10 million potential fuel-powered vehicle users each year."

At a time when the new energy wave is sweeping the world, FAW-Volkswagen insists on demonstrating the strategic determination and leadership of a traditional giant. At this press conference, FAW-Volkswagen announced the industry's first "three-step" intelligent driving roadmap for fuel vehicles, fully opening up the era of intelligence.
The first step, which is the current Intelligent Driving 1.0, will popularize the core high-end intelligent driving functions of fuel vehicles, covering 95% of the country's expressways and 90% of urban roads; the second step will be the launch of Intelligent Driving 2.0 in the 36th week of this year, to realize end-to-end large-scale model installation, which can cover 100% of the country's expressways and 95% of urban roads, and promote the equalization of intelligent driving rights for fuel vehicles; the third step will be the launch of Intelligent Driving 3.0 in 2026, and the intelligent driving function will cover 100% of the country's expressways and 100% of urban roads. Whether on highways or in urban areas, all road conditions can be driven, bringing users a safe, comfortable and efficient travel experience.
The all-new Tanyue L is the answer sheet for the first phase of this roadmap. The new car redefines the intelligent ceiling of gasoline vehicles with breakthrough innovations in intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit, safety performance, control experience, design and space.
This time, the new Tanyue L teamed up with Zhuoyu Technology (formerly DJI Car), based on the standards of "practical" and "dare to use", and created the IQ.Pilot high-level intelligent assisted driving solution based on the "9V5R12U" intelligent sensing hardware. Its inertial navigation binocular camera that simulates human eyes can easily identify road conditions and realize core intelligent driving functions commonly used by users, such as intelligent lever changing lanes, intelligent lane cutting response, and intelligent automatic parking.
For example, at a speed of 80km/h, the intelligent lane keeping system can stably pass through curves with a large curvature radius; the intelligent obstacle avoidance function can automatically give way to large trucks that are approaching laterally; and when someone cuts in on a congested road, the intelligent lane-cutting response system can automatically slow down or brake to the stop, freeing the driver's feet.

In terms of smart cockpit, the new Tanyue L redefines the relationship between people and vehicles with its 5+X multi-modal interactive system. The digital dual-core composed of a 15-inch 2K floating central control screen and an 11.6-inch co-pilot entertainment screen provides the same intelligent experience as new energy vehicles, and with the AR-HUD augmented reality head-up display, it seamlessly integrates navigation information with real-life roads.
It is worth mentioning that the voice system deeply customized with iFlytek not only supports 23 dialect recognition, but also realizes contextual semantic understanding and multi-round dialogue capabilities through integration with the DeepSeek large model. The Harman Kardon hall-level sound system uses 12 speakers with a new surround sound algorithm to bring a leapfrog driving experience.
The 2791mm wheelbase makes the second-row legroom and headroom of the new Tanyue L ahead of its competitors. The cloud-sensing seats developed specifically for Chinese users have the same ergonomic seat design as the Audi A8, which not only improves the ride softness by 36%, but also allows for a comfortable sitting posture even during long-distance driving.

Control is the soul of the vehicle and also the belief that Volkswagen brand has in its genes. China is vast and has varied landforms. In order to provide the best driving experience in all parts of the country, the new Tanyue L has undergone 7 rounds of China-specific chassis tuning, which ensures that it is stable and solid under different road conditions. Even at a speed of 200km/h, the vehicle will not drift.
In terms of safety, the entire vehicle is made of 80% high-strength steel, of which 28% is hot-formed steel, meeting the C-class car standard. The roof can withstand an extreme pressure of 11.2 tons.
Another highlight of the press conference was the female owner of a Volkswagen CC who knelt down to thank her for her car and was given a new Tanyue L. The female owner's parents were driving a car that suddenly overturned on the highway, but fortunately, the vehicle was well protected and only slightly scratched. The scene of the female owner kneeling down to thank her for her car resonated with many people. FAW-Volkswagen and the owner went to the two sides to continue to protect the owner's family with a new Volkswagen car, and also interpreted with actions that "quality and safety are the most lasting confession."
Since 2018, the cumulative sales of FAW-Volkswagen SUV family has reached nearly 2 million units. The arrival of the new Tanyue L is more than a simple product renewal.
