On June 27, Geely officially released the latest generation of self-developed and self-produced "blade-type" lithium iron phosphate batteries - the Aegis Dagger battery.
It is reported that compared with long knife batteries, Aegis short knife batteries are safer, more durable and have faster charging times.
Especially in terms of safety, its battery cells passed the 8-pin simultaneous puncture test of the China Automotive Industry Center, and the same battery pack passed the 6 "devil" serial tests of the China Automotive Industry Center, leading the highest safety standards for power batteries.

In the industry, the single needle puncture test has been regarded as the most difficult test. In the "8-needle puncture" test of China Automotive Research and Development Corporation, the Aegis Dagger battery cell was punctured simultaneously by eight steel needles with a diameter of 5mm and left to stand for 1 hour. After several hours, there is still no smoke, fire, or explosion.
In addition, the Aegis dagger battery cell passed the 5.8mm real gun penetration test for the first time in the world. A 5.8mm automatic rifle bullet penetrated the cell at a speed of 920m/s, causing explosive damage with a wound diameter of ≥60mm. No fire or explosion.
The Aegis Dagger battery pack launched the industry's first "devil" serial test, including dynamic seawater corrosion immersion, plateau extreme cold, high-frequency bottom scraping, 26-ton overweight reciprocating rolling, single-pack side pillar collision, flame roasting, etc. 6 "devil" serial tests. With the patented design of the "Tianzi grid" frame of the Aegis battery, energy-absorbing cavity, three-layer sandwich bottom guard, CTB battery body integration, accidental thermal runaway risk control, battery cell safety multiple protection and other measures, it passed all 6 tests. .
At the same time, because the Aegis Dagger battery uses multi-element doped positive electrode materials and small particle negative electrode materials, combined with its advantages of small size and low internal resistance, the internal chemical reaction speed is effectively slowed down and the battery life is significantly extended.
According to calculations, the cycle life of the Aegis dagger battery can reach 3,500 cycles, which translates into a safe driving mileage of up to 1 million kilometers. It is estimated that an ordinary family car travels 20,000 kilometers a year, and the Aegis Dagger battery can "serve" for 50 years.
It is worth mentioning that the Aegis dagger battery physically solves the problem of high internal resistance of the long knife. At the same time, it uses carbon nanotubes with thinner diameter and longer length to create a "highway" for ion transmission and Adding additives with lower film-forming resistance to the electrolyte makes it easier for lithium ions to enter the negative electrode, thereby greatly improving fast charging performance.

Test data shows that under the same battery capacity, the long knife battery takes 26 minutes to charge 10-80% SOC, and the average charging rate is 1.61C; while the SHIELD short knife battery only takes 17 minutes and 4 seconds, and the average charging rate can reach 2.45C.
In addition, in extremely cold environments, the Aegis dagger battery also has stronger discharge capacity and longer cruising range than the long knife battery. When the ambient temperature is -30°C, the capacity retention rate of the long knife battery "plummets" to 78.96%, while the capacity retention rate of the Aegis short knife battery can still reach 90.54%.
