As Michelin celebrates its 35th anniversary in the mainland China market, the company remains dedicated to building green and intelligent factories.
The third edition of the "Carbon-Seeking Future, Quality Matters" Green Factory Activity Week was recently held at the Michelin Shenyang factory. On the day of the closing ceremony, the Shenyang factory officially signed a green power cooperation agreement with China Resources. Simultaneously, the fourth and fifth phases of the factory’s solar energy project were announced to be under construction. Once operational, these projects are expected to provide 1 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to the Shenyang factory over the next twenty years, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1 million tons.

At the press conference, Michelin Greater China and Mongolia President and CEO, Ye Fei, stated, "At Michelin, we are always committed to creating green and intelligent factories. It's not just about manufacturing products; it's more importantly about manufacturing a sustainable future."
The activity week showcased the latest achievements of the Shenyang factory in its journey towards becoming a zero-carbon facility, including key solutions for carbon neutrality and new practices in developing renewable and recyclable materials.

It is worth mentioning that the Michelin Shenyang factory has achieved 100% usage of green electricity, and is exploring multiple pathways to carbon neutrality. This includes transformation and electrification of steam vulcanizers, substitution with underground thermal energy heating, and the use of biomass steam and gas.
Li Yanbing, General Manager of Michelin Shenyang Tire Co., Ltd., revealed, "Pleasant work, excellent manufacturing, and friendly ecology are the three pillars for Michelin Shenyang factory to move towards 'everything is sustainable.' The next goal for the factory's green and low-carbon development is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2028."
